DOMINION VIRGINIA POWER, Arlington County, VA
WAC was awarded and is currently working on the Pentagon to Rosslyn Re-conductoring project; a 2.5 mile double circuit 69kV HPFF line which includes 8 normal splices in 4 existing manholes and 2 trifurcating splices.
TAIHAN / BALTIMORE GAS & ELECTRIC, Baltimore, MD
Installation of two new 115 kV XLPE circuits in Baltimore, MD from Westport Substation to a new GIS Substation including 24 three-phase cable splices and 18 terminations. Each circuit is 5 miles long and the project is on-going.
PACIFIC GAS & ELECTRIC / BLACK & VEATCH, San Francisco, CA
Re-cabling of four existing 115 kV HPGF pipe type cable circuits with a total length of 18 miles. WAC will remove the current cables and replace with HPGF cables inside existing pipes. Phase 1 is complete and Phase 2 is on-going.
ITC TRANSMISSION / USI TERMINATION REPLACEMENTS, Detroit, MI
Replacement of twenty-seven (27) 115 kV HPGF terminations. This was the final phase of this multi-year project.
JACKSONVILLE ELECTRIC AUTHORITY, Jacksonville, FL
Installation of approximately 4,000 circuit feet of 138kV HPFF underground cable across the Trout River. The project includes a 3,700 foot horizontal directional drill under the Trout River and was completed in June, 2010.
SEATTLE CITY LIGHT DEPARTMENT, Seattle, WA
WAC was awarded a contract to install one 200 foot section of 115kV LPOF three conductor cable including the installation of two 115kV LPOF splices. This project required a freeze and was completed in January, 2010.
PECO, Philadelphia, PA
WAC was awarded a sub-contract and is currently working on the cable removal, installation and splicing of a 138kV HPFF Line Relocation project.
BALTIMORE GAS & ELECTRIC, Baltimore, MD
WAC was awarded a contract and is currently working to install and replace a total of 29 230kV HPFF terminations at Hawkins Point and Sollers Point Terminals and 6 115kV HPFF terminations at Greene Street Substation.
AMERICAN TRANSMISSION COMPANY, Milwaukee, WI
WAC was awarded a contract to purchase and install 12,750 feet of 138kV HPFF cable for a ¾ mile circuit with a small portion under the Milwaukee River. Civil work and cable installation is complete with one splice, two pull through trifurcators and six terminations scheduled for completion by the end of 2010.
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY / SOUTHWESTERN POWER ADMINISTRATION, Bull Shoals, AR
WAC was awarded a contract to install and replace a total of twelve 161kV HPFF terminations including stand modifications as needed, a total of twenty-four 98kV surge arresters including stand extensions and footings, and all of the bus work and modifications for the new equipment. This project has begun as of October, 2010.
XCEL Energy, Denver, CO
WAC was awarded 2 contracts; the replacement of 3 Ohio Brass 115kV terminations in the Harrison Substation and the purchase / installation of 27,400 feet of 115kV HPFF cable with 1 Y splice, 1 transition splice, 2 normal splices and 6 terminations on 2 separate circuits. The Harrison Substation work will be completed in October with the civil / pipe work in the 4th quarter 2010 and all of the cable work in the 1st and 2nd quarters of 2011 on the larger Project.
AMERICAN TRANSMISSION COMPANY, Madison, WI
WAC was awarded a contract to purchase and install 24,100 feet of 138kV HPFF cable along with five splices and six terminations. The civil work is nearing completion with all cable, splice and termination work scheduled to begin in late October and to be completed by the end of 2010.
MEMPHIS LIGHT, GAS AND WATER, Memphis, TN
WAC was awarded a contract to purchase and install thirty 115kV HPFF terminations to replace 50 year-old Ohio Brass terminations in six different substations with work scheduled to begin during the 1st quarter of 2011.

Replacement of sixty-three (63) 115kV HPGF terminations as part of multi-year / multi-phase project.
DELMARVA POWER, Millsboro, DE
Installation of one 138kV EPR underground cable circuit nearly 1,000 feet in length from the 138kV bus to a new 138-69kV transformer at Indian River Substation. The project required providing and installing a conduit system, cable, six 138kV terminations and accessories along with the cable testing upon completion of the installation.
LOUISVILLE GAS & ELECTRIC COMPANY, Louisville, KY
WAC mobilized and responded to a cable failure on a 69kV HPGF line. The work included removing the damaged cable, breaking down the existing splice, repairing the section of damaged pipe and installing two new splices.
SANTEE COOPER / BLUFFTON MARKETPLACE / BROAD CREEK CROSSING, Hilton Head Island, SC
Removal of 2,800 feet of underground 115 kV HPGF cable and installation of 2,800 feet of 8 inch pipe by Horizontal Directional Bore Construction and 115 kV HPGF cable under Broad Creek. The installation included six (6) terminations, one (1) three phase splice and a new Nitrogen gas monitoring cabinet. Completed in April 2009.
JOHN KERR POWERHOUSE / ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, Boydton, VA
Repair of Service Tap Failure on 115kV line that included installation and replacement of 250 feet of 115kV cable and one 115kV termination along with the removal of the damaged components.
PUBLIC SERVICE ELECTRIC & GAS, Waldwick, NJ
WAC mobilized and responded to a cable fault on a 230kV HPFF circuit after being awarded the repair contract through a competitive bid. WAC crews applied two (2) freezes to the damaged line, removed 2,700 feet of cable, repaired the pipe at the location of the fault, installed 2,700 feet of new cable and performed two (2) splices.
DOMINION VIRGINIA POWER, Arlington, VA
Relocation of six 230 kV HPFF SF6 terminations. The work included replacing the terminations, splicing and a required freeze for each cutover.
CITY OF CLEVELAND PUBLIC POWER, Cleveland, OH
Repair of a dig-in on a 69kV HPFF circuit which included removing the damaged section of cable, repairing the damaged section of pipe, installing a new 69kV buried splice and replacing all of the lost / evacuated fluid.
SOUTHWEST PUBLIC SERVICE / XCEL ENERGY, Amarillo, TX
Removal of approximately 1,000 circuit feet of 115kV HPFF cable, 200 feet of pipe, 2 terminations and 2 trifurcators within Nichols’ Substation. The remaining pipe was drained, swabbed, capped and abandoned in place.
EPCOR UTILITIES, INC., Edmonton, AB, Canada
WAC’s Canadian subsidiary was awarded and completed a project rebuilding four (4) 72kV HPFF splices, working through Thanksgiving in order to finish on schedule and before the onset of a long and hard Canadian Winter.

WAC mobilized to support BGE in an emergency response to a 115 kV XLPE cable failure. WAC worked around the clock to remove the damaged sections of cable, re-install new cable and complete the necessary splices.

Installation of two 138 kV XLPE circuits that included making the terminations.
SOUTH CAROLINA ELECTRIC & GAS, Charleston, SC
Installation of a 115 kV HPGF circuit from Thomas Island Substation to Hobcaw Substation. The circuit utilized two separate cable pulls greater than 5,000 feet. The total circuit length is 4.5 miles long.
NSTAR ELECTRIC & GAS 345 kV PROJECT, Boston, MA
Certification of 18 miles of 8 inch pipe including some modifications of the existing pipe along with the removal of 1 mile of 345 kV HPFF cable. Installation of 18 miles of 345 kV HPFF cable with splicing and terminations. The work utilized the use of a new technology to precisely survey the existing buried pipe.
NSTAR ELECTRIC & GAS BRIGHTON REPAIR WORK, Boston, MA
Repair of the faulted 115 kV HPFF circuit included installation of unique pre-bent pipe spools to minimize required hard rock removal and the duration of the necessary outage.
NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY / GILBOA, Gilboa, NY
Replacement of two 345 kV HPFF pipe type cable circuits at the Blenheim-Gilboa power plant located in Gilboa, NY. The existing cables were removed and new 345 kV HPFF circuits were installed. The project included 12 terminations and two splices. Each circuit is 1,200 feet long and are located inside NYPA's utility tunnel.
NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY / GILBOA EMERGENCY WORK, Gilboa, NY
As a result of a cable failure, two 345 kV HPFF pipe type cable circuits were removed and two new 1,200 foot long circuits were installed. The project included 12 terminations and two splices.

Removed 1,000 feet of 138 kV HPFF cable and fluid including six terminations and splices. The pipe was capped and abandoned.

Rerouted fluid supply lines on four existing 115 kV HPFF cable circuits to allow for substation expansion.

Installation of four 138 kV HPFF circuits terminating in the new substation. The project required the modification of two existing circuits to be tied into the new substation with 4 three-phase splices and 4 three-phase terminations.

WAC responded to a 69 kV HPFF "dig in" in Jacksonville, FL. The scope of work included the isolation of the damaged section from the remaining portion of the circuit.

Installation of two 69 kV EPR Solid Dielectric circuits from Benning Road Substation to the NE Substation in Washington DC. The circuits are 5.6 miles long.
SUMITOMO ELECTRIC, Albany, NY
Installation of a first of a kind 34 kV Superconductor cable for a joint project with DOE, Niagara Mohawk, SuperPower and Sumitomo. The cable is cold dielectric design with all three phases in one cryostat. The cable is 3.5 times the length of any previously installed HTS cable. In addition, it was the first installation in a standard utility underground right-of-way.
JACKSONVILLE ELECTRIC AUTHORITY, Jacksonville, FL
The replacement of three 69 kV HPFF terminations. In addition, WAC and USi performed an inspection of JEA's underground HPFF system.
DOMINION VIRGINIA POWER, Arlington, VA
Replacement of a pressurization plant on an existing HPFF circuit. The replacement was conducted without any outages in a constrained 230 kV substation using a custom built rail / turntable system to move the pumping plants.

Performed emergency repairs to a 110kV pipe cable damaged by pile driving operations for building construction in downtown Baltimore.
